Grand Illumination

Celebrate the start of the holiday season in Downtown Hertford as the town comes alive with the glow of over 70,000 sparkling lights! The Grand Illumination transforms the historic courthouse and surrounding streets into a winter wonderland filled with festive sights, sounds, and community cheer.

 

Come early for children’s activities beginning at 5:00 PM—write letters to Santa, roast marshmallows, and enjoy family fun. At 6:00 PM, the celebration continues with live entertainment featuring the Perquimans High School Band, the Hertford Dance Company, and more local favorites.

 

Then, as evening falls, watch the historic courthouse light up the night in a breathtaking display that shines all season long.
